Pickmaster Stamps Out Spending

Guitarists looking to stamp-out spending this holiday season are turning to Pickmaster. This glorified hole punch will easily transform your gift, loyalty, and credit cards into guitar picks or plectrums and render them impossible to use for any retail transaction.

I confess, this is really a novelty approach to slowing your spending. Guitar picks really aren’t that expensive and you can still shop online as long as you know your credit card numbers. Worst case scenario, you would have to wait a week for a replacement card and then there would be no slowing the retail offensive.

However, as I was researching this product I did stumble upon some credit and spending facts that may be of interest to you. For example, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) reports that an astonishing 62% of consumers plan to purchase gift cards this holiday season. Please be aware that there’s a big difference between a good and bad gift card:

  • Avoid cards that charge fees for the privilege of using them
  • Inspect before you buy – make sure no protective security stickers have been removed or tampered with
  • Give the purchase receipt with the card – to verify ownership if lost or stolen
  • Consider the financial condition of the company – businesses disappear all the time, make sure they don’t take your money with them

Also of interest is that average credit card debt per borrower in the U.S. is greater now than it was this time last year, according to credit reporting agency TransUnion. Over 90-day delinquency is also higher this year compared to last.

Consumer confidence does appear to be on the rise, but please make sure that your personal finances stay grounded. Pickmaster could be the perfect gift for yourself, or someone you care about.
